Dongguan Museum's New Building Opens for Trial Operation in Guangdong

• On 28 September, the new building of Dongguan Museum officially began trial operation at the south square of Dongguan Central Square, positioned as a 'regional central museum of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area'.
• Designed by a team led by Chinese Academy of Engineering academician He Jingtang after three years of construction, it has a total floor area of about 40,000 square metres across four above-ground floors and one basement level.
• It has 10 exhibition halls and nine exhibitions during trial operation, covering seven exhibition brands including Dongguan culture, Lingnan civilisation and Greater Bay Area humanities.
• The core exhibition 'Pearl of Lingnan, Gateway of Guangdong' occupies 2,650 square metres with 3,488 exhibits, including 382 precious artefacts, 80% shown for the first time.
• Two of the nine exhibitions are paid special exhibitions: 'Bronze Civilisation of Southwest China and Lingnan' and 'Song-Liao Treasures from the Yixian Dabeicheng Hoard'.
• The museum plans a cross-year 'biennial exhibition season', adding 20 exhibitions every two years.
