Beijing's Dongcheng District Releases Ten Cultural Exploration Routes

• On September 16, the "Seeking Charm of the Ancient Capital, Enjoying Dongcheng" 2026 Dongcheng District Cultural Exploration Event and Route Launch Ceremony was held at the Ferris Wheel Square of Longtan Zhonghu Park, guided by the Dongcheng District Culture and Tourism Bureau and hosted by the Dongcheng District Cultural Tourism Promotion Center.
• The event officially released ten new cultural exploration routes in Dongcheng District, presented through Citywalk, cycling, and micro-running formats to help residents and visitors immerse themselves in Dongcheng's heritage.
• The ten routes cover diverse themes including commercial history, hutong culture, night sightseeing, cycling and food, theater and intangible heritage, Central Axis exploration, traditional Chinese medicine culture, and urban art renewal, catering to both domestic and inbound visitors.
• Three "cycling + Citywalk" cultural exploration experiences were launched on the same day, including "Beijing Splendor: A Millennium of Commerce," "Tracing Hutongs: A Century of Change," and a cycling experience led by Olympic champion Lin Yue along the "Greenway Water Charm: Southern City Stroll."
• At the ceremony, Hu Guowei, Party Secretary of the Dongcheng District Culture and Tourism Bureau, delivered remarks outlining the continued development of the "East of the Forbidden City" cultural tourism brand and the integration of old city preservation with cultural tourism.
• Next, the Dongcheng District Cultural Tourism Promotion Center will continue to promote and implement the ten cultural exploration routes, refine route products, and deepen the cultural connotations of the old city.
