    Kuwait Travel Advisory: Level 3, Reconsider Travel

    The U.S. State Department has issued a Level 3 travel advisory for Kuwait, recommending reconsideration of travel due to threats of armed conflict, landmines, and crime. Since the onset of U.S.-Iran hostilities on February 28, 2026, there has been an ongoing threat of drone and missile attacks from Iran, and commercial aviation has been seriously disrupted. The FAA has issued a NOTAM/SFAR. U.S. government employees need special authorization, and only family members aged 18 or older may join them. The Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area in Kuwait City has a high crime rate.

    Kuwait travel advice: regional tensions and airport operations

    The UK FCDO updated its travel advice for Kuwait, no longer advising against all but essential travel, but noting the Middle East situation remains unpredictable. Since 8 July, Iran has conducted strikes in several locations, including Kuwait, against US military and civilian infrastructure. Kuwait International Airport is currently operating through Terminals 4 and 5, with Terminal 1 closed and reduced flight schedules. British nationals are advised to prepare for flight cancellations and airspace closures, and follow local guidance.
