• On September 22, the China Meteorological Administration released a national autumn viewing guide and a golden-autumn sunrise/sunset glow viewing map at the main event of the 2026 National Day Culture and Tourism Consumption Month.
• Based on temperature, cold-air influence, autumn progression, and ecological conditions, the guide recommends suitable autumn viewing areas in 25 cities (counties) across 19 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities).
• The sunrise/sunset glow map recommends 33 areas across 27 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), covering three categories: mountain peaks, rivers/lakes/seas, and cultural landscapes.
• This year, most of Northeast China entered autumn later than usual, and the autumn front has reached a line from northern Sichuan, western Hubei, and southern Henan to northern Shandong.
• The Yangtze River basin is expected to see heat gradually subside from late September through around the National Day holiday, while South China will not truly meet autumn until mid-to-late October.
• The meteorological authority noted that autumn temperatures fluctuate widely, frost and fog are likely in plateaus and mountains, and some areas may see brief rainfall.
