Travel data specialist Travelogix has partnered with Brisbane, Australia-based Kudos Travel Technology, with the two working as preferred technology partners to offer a more connected technology ecosystem. Germany monthly air passengers: 18.9 million in May 2026

Eurostat data show Germany recorded 18,897,300 air passengers in May 2026, up from 16,302,138 in April and 14,749,733 in March, continuing a recovery from the February low of 11,968,618. October 2025 stood at 21,215,639, the highest in the listed period. These are statistical observations, not real-time passenger counts, and missing observations are excluded rather than treated as zero.

EU Launches Mediterranean Women's Employment Initiative with €25 Million

The European Commission launched the Surging Women's Employment Initiative under the Pact for the Mediterranean, mobilising €25 million (including a €10 million EU contribution) to create 500,000 additional jobs for women in the Middle East and North Africa and raise women's employment by 5% by 2030. Women's labour market participation in the region has remained at around 20% on average for over two decades. Unveiled by Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Šuica with UN Women during the 81st UN General Assembly High-Level Week, the initiative focuses on skills, entrepreneurship and job creation in sectors including care, green, science and technology.

Three OTA Half-Year Reports: Growth Logic Shifts as Ctrip Bets on International, Tongcheng Acquires…

In the first half of this year, listed Chinese OTAs continued to grow overall, but the growth logic is changing. Ctrip's net revenue was RMB 31.871 billion, up 11.15% year on year, while net profit attributable to shareholders fell to RMB 4.1 million due to an antitrust penalty. Tongcheng Travel's revenue was RMB 9.993 billion, up 10.5%, with net profit of RMB 1.411 billion, up 7.67%. Viking Cruises marks its tenth year in China in 2026, having served more than 100,000 Chinese travellers over the decade, with highly educated silver-haired customers as its core segment. Crowne Plaza by IHG announced on 24 September 2026 the opening of Crowne Plaza Paris Marne-la-Vallée in Magny-le-Hongre, at the heart of Marne-la-Vallée. The hotel spans 2.5 hectares of landscaped grounds and offers 250 guestrooms and suites, most overlooking Golf Paris Val d'Europe. It sits about 40 minutes from central Paris and provides a complimentary shuttle to Marne-la-Vallée Chessy station and the region's theme parks. Event facilities include 1,500 square metres of flexible space, 14 meeting rooms and capacity for up to 400 delegates. The brand has 96 hotels and more than 20,400 rooms open across Europe, with a pipeline of 21 properties and over 4,300 rooms.

EU and Canada Secure Almost €220 Million for Global Ocean Observation

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney launched the OceanEye International Alliance at a high-level pledging event during the 81st UN General Assembly High-Level Week in New York, securing almost €220 million in pledges for the Global Ocean Observing System. The EU added €92 million in seed funding, while Canada pledged C$82 million over five years. Accor's SO/ Berlin Das Stue to Rebrand as Sofitel in Q1 2027

Accor announced that SO/ Berlin Das Stue, a 78-room boutique hotel housed in a heritage-protected former Royal Danish Embassy overlooking Berlin's Tiergarten, will transition to Sofitel Berlin Das Stue in Q1 2027, joining Sofitel's global luxury collection. The property will retain its Danish heritage and contemporary design while undergoing a curated enhancement program covering guestrooms, bedding, public spaces, signage, corridors and a reimagined lobby. The move strengthens Sofitel's presence in Germany and Europe; Accor currently operates nearly 300 hotels with more than 43,000 rooms in Germany, with around 30 projects in development.

ACI: Global Airport Passenger Traffic Hits Record 9.8 Billion in 2025

Airports Council International (ACI) World released its 2026 Annual World Airport Traffic Report, showing global airports carried a record 9.8 billion passengers in 2025, with air cargo also hitting an all-time high. The report draws on data from 2,817 commercial airports, capturing an estimated 97% of scheduled global passenger traffic. International traffic drove growth, up 6.1% versus 1.7% for domestic; cargo rose 3.3% and aircraft movements 2.0%. EU Provides €10 Million Grant for Women's Employment in MENA

At a high-level roundtable held during the UN General Assembly, the European Commission announced a €10 million grant to create 500,000 jobs for women in the Middle East and North Africa, focusing on sectors including clean energy, climate adaptation, science and technology, and the care economy. The EU also supports micro-businesses and households through the SANAD fund, which has supported 500,000 jobs, over a third held by women. The EU said it will work with governments and regulators across the Mediterranean to improve access to finance for women and women-led businesses.
