According to a report by Phocuswright and WiT, the wellness tourism market grew from $438 billion in 2012 to $894 billion in 2024, surpassing pre-pandemic levels by 36%, and is forecast to reach $1.4 trillion by 2029 with a CAGR of 9.1%. Consumer demand is strong, with 84% of US, 79% of UK, and 94% of Chinese consumers considering wellness a top or important priority. Wellness tourism is increasingly linked with regenerative and sustainable tourism, making it a key growth area for the travel industry.
SAP Concur analyzed domestic and international air travel bookings in Concur Travel from January 1 to December 31, 2024, comparing airfare and travel volume to the same period in 2023. Results show domestic travel volume up nearly 3% year over year and international travel volume up nearly 6%. July saw the largest domestic booking increase at 11%, while December saw the largest international increase at 16%. Average domestic airfare remained elevated compared to 2023, peaking at $597 in March and dropping to $540 in August. International airfare was flat in the first half and accelerated in the second half, rising 11% in December.
