    China Briefing: 6 Cruise Ships to Operate 14 Voyages Over Mid-Autumn and National Day Holidays

    On 24 September, the State Council Information Office held a briefing on transport service arrangements for the Mid-Autumn and National Day holidays. Li Yang, spokesperson and vice minister of the Ministry of Transport, said six cruise ships will operate 14 voyages across Shanghai, Tianjin and Shenzhen during the holiday period. No-destination sea cruises have grown quickly this year, with three rounds already run: Adora Magic City carried 4,000 passengers on its first sailing in Shanghai in June, and Ideal operated two voyages in Tianjin in August, with 2,700 passengers on the first.     China Ice and Snow Tourism Report: 360 Million Leisure Trips Expected This Winter

    The China Tourism Academy (Data Center of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism) released the China Ice and Snow Tourism Development Report (2026) on January 5. It says that after roughly a decade of development, China's ice and snow tourism has shifted from a niche experience to a mass trend and from a single season to all four seasons. Combined estimates put leisure trips for the 2025-2026 winter at 360 million and leisure revenue at RMB 450 billion, with about 220 million trips primarily motivated by ice and snow tourism.
