    NoMad Singapore Opens for Reservations, Set to Open Late 2026

    NoMad Singapore, the brand's first property in Asia Pacific, is now accepting reservations ahead of its late 2026 opening. Located on Orchard Road, designed by WOHA with interiors by Kevin Klein Design, it spans 10,225 square metres and features 173 guest rooms including 25 suites across 12 levels. Developed with UOL Group, the project reimagines the former Faber House with a 14-story waterfall and vertical façade. The hotel will display more than 1,860 artworks, 90% by Singapore-based artists, and partners with ART:DIS to support artists with disabilities.

    Singapore to Levy Sustainable Aviation Fuel Fee from 2027

    The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) will impose a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Levy on tickets sold from 1 October 2026 for flights departing from 1 January 2027. The levy must be shown as a separate line item. Funds will go to a statutory SAF Fund managed by SAFCo, which will procure SAF and allocate environmental attributes. Cargo shipments are deferred to 2028.

    Agoda and NTT DATA Advance Renewable Energy and Data Center Efficiency in Singapore

    CAAS and Shanghai Jiao Tong University to collaborate on aviation training

    The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) have signed an MOU to strengthen collaboration in aviation training and education. They will establish a framework for cooperation in civil aviation training and capacity-building through joint programmes, academic exchanges, and executive education. The first initiative is a new Masters programme in Intelligent Civil Aviation Management, delivered by the Singapore Aviation Academy and SJTU's Antai College, launching in 2027 for Asia-Pacific aviation professionals.

    CAAS and SAFRA Trial Drone Flying Areas at Four Clubhouses

    The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and SAFRA will trial Unmanned Aircraft Flying Areas (UAFAs) at four SAFRA clubhouses from 3 August 2026 for six months. The trial sites are indoor futsal and squash courts at Choa Chu Kang, Mount Faber, Tampines, and Toa Payoh, equipped with drone gates. The public can book free slots via the SAFRA app or web portal. The trial aims to explore safe repurposing of enclosed spaces for recreational drone flying, with potential expansion if successful.

    Singapore Establishes Temporary Restricted Areas for NDP Aerial Activities

    The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) announced temporary restricted areas (TRAs) over parts of Singapore on selected dates in June, July, and August 2026 for National Day Parade (NDP) aerial activities. The TRAs cover the Kallang area and extend from ground to 3,000 feet. During these times, all aerial activities including kite-flying and drones are prohibited, with penalties for violations.
