    Türkiye Tourism and Trip.com Launch Immersive Culinary Experience in Shanghai

    On 20 September, an immersive culinary experience titled "Taste of Türkiye" opened at the Old City Hall on Shanghai's Bund, jointly created by the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency and Trip.com Group. Running for three months under the theme "Leap into Türkiye," it is expected to host 900 to 1,000 guests. The experience blends cuisine, destination scenery, traditional costume and dance, with a route covering Istanbul, Cappadocia, Antalya and ancient Ephesus, reflecting how Chinese travellers' Turkish itineraries are extending from classic cities to Muğla, Konya and the Aegean coast.

    Hilton: Saudi Luxury Is Saturated, Now Targeting Mid-Market

    Simon Vincent, Hilton's president for Europe, Middle East and Africa, said Saudi Arabia's upper-end hotel market is largely established, with Hilton already operating Conrad, Waldorf Astoria, Hilton, Curio and DoubleTree brands there. The next growth wave will come from mid-market brands and franchising. Vincent cited Turkey as proof: from the Hilton Istanbul Bosphorus opening in 1955 to more than 100 hotels in the country today, expansion came mainly through mid-market brands such as Hilton Garden Inn in provincial towns and Hampton in secondary cities.

    EU Opens Consultation on Non-OECD Countries Authorised to Receive EU Waste After May 2027

    The European Commission has launched a public consultation on a draft list of non-OECD countries that could be authorised to import non-hazardous waste from the EU after May 2027 under the Waste Shipment Regulation. Adopted in 2024, the regulation introduces stricter rules: from 21 May 2027, the EU will export waste to non-OECD countries only if they explicitly request to continue receiving it and demonstrate sustainable management.     Hilton announced the opening of Hilton Istanbul Airport, the first internationally branded hotel adjacent to airport grounds in Türkiye, with 485 rooms, marking its 100th hotel in the country. The hotel offers runway-view rooms, the debut of OXBO dining brand in Türkiye, wellness facilities, eight meeting rooms, and a grand ballroom seating 250. Hilton plans 14 openings in Türkiye in 2026.

    Travelport and Turkish Airlines have signed a new multi-year distribution agreement that extends a partnership dating back to 1993 and includes NDC. Turkish Airlines' content will be available through Travelport+, including NDC-only fares and advanced merchandising capabilities, with an NDC go-live expected in a future phase. The deal also offers a reduced surcharge for NDC and enables rich visual content and ancillary merchandising.
