    Super Wings Space Base Opens at Shanghai Happy Valley

    On September 25 the "Super Wings Space Base" opened at Shanghai Happy Valley. The immersive family-themed area spans 20,000 square meters with five themed zones and more than 20 featured attractions, the latest co-creation between Happy Valley Group and Alpha Group, and a practice of integrating a Chinese theme-park brand with an original Chinese animation IP. Built around a "star-core energy recovery" storyline, it covers themed rides, role-play, interactive installations and themed performances, combining family interaction, immersive experiences, themed dining and merchandise. It is the second site under Happy Valley Group's "urban IP entertainment home" strategy.

    Shanghai Jing'an International Reception Hall Opens 24-Hour Self-Service Area

    The Jing'an International Reception Hall on Nanjing West Road in Shanghai, converted from the former Shanghai city air terminal, reopened on 28 September 2025 with a 24-hour self-service area on the ground floor where residents and domestic and international travellers can handle Hong Kong and Macao travel endorsements and foreign-currency exchange. The venue combines talent services, cross-border data services, corporate outbound services and foreign-national facilitation services, and offers foreign-related rights guidance and inbound-tourism advice, working with a Jing'an District People's Procuratorate workstation on intellectual-property protection for cultural and tourism firms.

    Foreign Tourists Move Beyond Check-in Travel in China

    China's 15th Five-Year Plan for Culture and Tourism aims to launch more culturally rich products for international markets by 2030. Shanghai's inbound tourism is shifting: foreign visitors wear hanfu, learn to make xiaolongbao and ride autonomous vehicles. A Yuyuan photo studio serves up to 100 groups daily at peak, with 60-70% foreign tourists; top five source countries this summer were Russia, South Korea, the US, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. Shanghai launched the 'Huxiaoyou' service center supporting 10 languages and 120+ currencies for foreign card payments. As of early September, 3.142 million visitors entered under visa-free and 240-hour transit policies, over 66.4% of foreign arrivals.

    Türkiye Tourism and Trip.com Launch Immersive Culinary Experience in Shanghai

    On 20 September, an immersive culinary experience titled "Taste of Türkiye" opened at the Old City Hall on Shanghai's Bund, jointly created by the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency and Trip.com Group. Running for three months under the theme "Leap into Türkiye," it is expected to host 900 to 1,000 guests. The experience blends cuisine, destination scenery, traditional costume and dance, with a route covering Istanbul, Cappadocia, Antalya and ancient Ephesus, reflecting how Chinese travellers' Turkish itineraries are extending from classic cities to Muğla, Konya and the Aegean coast.

    Sunac Snow Wonder Signs Shanghai Songjiang Ice and Snow Sports Complex Project

    On September 16, the signing ceremony for the Shanghai Songjiang Ice and Snow Sports Complex project was held. Sunac Snow Wonder will lead the professional operation and management of the ski slope. The project was initially planned and advanced by the Songjiang District Government and Erjin Management, with Southeast Grid Group investing in construction. The project is planned as a flagship professional ski resort capable of hosting international ski federation events, with supporting hotel, dining, and wellness commercial spaces. To date, Sunac Snow Wonder has operated 11 large indoor ski resorts across China.

    Shanghai's First AI-Glasses City Companion Pilot Lands in Yuyuan

    During the 2026 Inclusion Bund Conference, Shanghai's first AI-glasses city-companion pilot launched on 9 September at the Yuyuan scenic area in Huangpu District. Visitors wearing Qwen AI glasses can access historical commentary on old buildings, voice navigation, real-time translation and direct payment for goods, linking commentary, Q&A, navigation, translation and consumption while reducing phone searches and app switching. Dayuyuan said it hopes to interact with visitors intelligently, and Huangpu District cited its dense cultural landmarks and new consumption scenes as application space for AI terminals.

    Shanghai Bandao 1919 Park Launches Green Renewal

    On August 18, the Bandao 1919 Park, transformed from the former Shanghai No. 8 Cotton Mill, announced the launch of a green renewal.     Shanghai Jinjiang Park's 118-Meter Ferris Wheel Breaks Ground

    On August 9, construction began on a 118-meter Ferris wheel at Shanghai Jinjiang Park, expected to open in 2027. It will be China's first single-tube wheel structure exceeding 100 meters, featuring 36 panoramic cabins offering in-air dining and VIP customization, integrated with nearly 10,000 square meters of ground facilities. The project plans to distribute about 100,000 complimentary tickets to the public.
