    IHG Introduces Noted Collection Brand to Japan

    IHG Hotels & Resorts announced the introduction of its premium collection brand Noted Collection to Japan with two hotels in Tokyo. The Shinjuku property is a 207-key conversion with SC Capital Partners, opening in 2027; the Ginza property is an 81-key new-build with An Consulting, opening in 2029 and bringing IHG to Ginza for the first time. Noted Collection launched this year as IHG's 21st brand.

    Lodging Lowdown: Highgate Names New CMO, BWH Debuts Extended-Stay Property

    Several hotel industry developments this week: Highgate appointed Erica Doyne as chief marketing officer; she brings nearly two decades of hospitality and travel leadership experience, most recently as CMO of Cardinal Financial and previously in marketing executive roles at Hyatt. BWH Hotels opened @HOME by Best Western McDonough in Georgia, a 128-suite extended-stay property marking the brand's first location in the state and Southeast region and its second in the U.S. Separately, more than 7,000 union hotel workers in Chicago voted to authorize a strike, which could become the city's largest hotel strike.

    Accor's MGallery Signs New York's Ink 48 as U.S. Flagship for 2028

    Accor's boutique brand MGallery Collection announced the signing of Ink 48 in Manhattan, New York, as its U.S. flagship hotel. Located in Hell's Kitchen, the property has 222 guestrooms including 17 suites, a rooftop bar, a restaurant and about 6,000 square feet of meeting space. Following the signing, the hotel will undergo extensive renovation while continuing to operate independently, before officially joining MGallery in 2028 under Rebel Hotel Company management. MGallery currently has more than 125 hotels worldwide with over 60 projects in development.

    IHG to open coffee-inspired Noted Collection hotel in Amman

    IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a franchise agreement with Jordanian coffee brand Al Ameed Coffee to bring its 21st brand, Noted Collection, to Jordan. The 50-key hotel in Amman sits on a key gateway corridor linking the city to Queen Alia International Airport, with a coffee reserve and experience centre on the first two floors and coffee-inspired touches throughout. IHG currently operates eight hotels across three brands in Jordan.

    Ritz-Carlton Residences planned for Brooklyn; 1 Hotel Austin opens

    Marriott and SomeraRoad announced plans for The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Brooklyn Heights, at the former Hotel Bossert, with construction expected to start later this year and completion anticipated in 2029. 1 Hotels opened 1 Hotel Austin inside the 74-story Waterline, Texas' tallest tower, with 252 rooms and more than 10,000 square feet of meetings and events space. IHG and EasyJet launched a global partnership offering SME travel benefits, including a 10% discount on new EasyJet plus memberships for IHG Business Edge members. Union workers at a Seattle Hilton ratified a new contract, ending an 85-day strike.

    H World Group Launches Premium Brand Grand Ji Hotel

    H World Group has launched Grand Ji Hotel, a new premium brand built around a distinctly Chinese approach to design, comfort and hospitality, emphasizing privacy, calm and service. As of end-June, two Grand Ji Hotels were open with 441 rooms and 18 more properties in the pipeline. H World operates more than 13,000 hotels globally, and its technology backbone, supply chain and operating scale underpin the brand's expansion. The brand is anchored in five elements — water, clouds, tea, pine and stone — with modular design and a 'one brand, one design' philosophy ensuring consistency across properties.

    Hilton: Saudi Luxury Is Saturated, Now Targeting Mid-Market

    Simon Vincent, Hilton's president for Europe, Middle East and Africa, said Saudi Arabia's upper-end hotel market is largely established, with Hilton already operating Conrad, Waldorf Astoria, Hilton, Curio and DoubleTree brands there. The next growth wave will come from mid-market brands and franchising. Vincent cited Turkey as proof: from the Hilton Istanbul Bosphorus opening in 1955 to more than 100 hotels in the country today, expansion came mainly through mid-market brands such as Hilton Garden Inn in provincial towns and Hampton in secondary cities.

    Field & Stream Lodge Co. Expands to Oregon and California

    Field & Stream Lodge Co., the hospitality platform founded by Starwood Capital Group and AJ Capital Partners, is expanding with new hotels in Bend, Oregon, and Big Bear, California, both slated to open in 2028. The Oregon property is a 151-room basecamp transformed from the former Shilo Inn, while the Southern California property is a 148-room hotel on Village Road following renovation of the former Holiday Inn Resort Big Bear. The brand debuted in Bozeman, Montana, in May 2025. AJ Capital principal Scott Ebbott said Bend and Big Bear were selected for their similarities to Bozeman, as towns built around getting outside with year-round adventure.

    Hilton's Outset Collection Set for EMEA Debut with Madrid Signing

    Hilton announced a franchise agreement with Arte Hoteles for the first Outset Collection by Hilton property in EMEA: Casa Verbena Madrid. Expected to open later in 2026, the 45-room hotel will sit on Calle de Preciados in central Madrid, within walking distance of Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and Gran Vía. The signing expands Hilton's lifestyle collection portfolio and its presence in Spain.

    IHG and Urban sign two New South Wales hotels

    IHG Hotels & Resorts announced it is expanding its partnership with Urban Property Group by signing Crowne Plaza Newcastle and Hotel Indigo Gosford, bringing the pair's New South Wales collaboration to three hotels. The two had already signed Crowne Plaza Parramatta in 2025. The new hotels will anchor major mixed-use developments in Gosford and Newcastle. Crowne Plaza Newcastle is expected to open in late 2029 with 171 rooms within a 43-storey development, featuring all-day dining, a lobby bar, more than 550 sqm of meetings and events space including a 425 sqm ballroom, a pool and landscaped public spaces.     Field & Stream Lodge Adds Two Hotels; Building the Brand Will Take Time

    Field & Stream Lodge Co., the outdoor hotel brand backed by Barry Sternlicht's Starwood Capital Group and Ben Weprin's AJ Capital Partners, said it will add lodges in Bend, Oregon, and Big Bear, California — its second and third properties three years after launching in 2023. The developers bought the 151-room former Shilo Inn on the Deschutes River in Bend and a 148-room former Holiday Inn resort in Big Bear, a two-hour drive from Los Angeles; both are slated to open in 2028 after full renovations. The brand's first location is a 179-room hotel in Bozeman, Montana, which opened in May 2025.

    Naples Grande Beach Resort joins Signia Hilton portfolio

    Naples Grande Beach Resort will join Hilton's Signia portfolio in January 2027, becoming the brand's first property on Florida's Gulf Coast. The 474-room resort, which includes 50 villas, is undergoing the most significant transformation in its nearly four-decade history, with redesigned guest rooms and suites, upgraded wellness amenities, enhanced dining venues, a luxury spa, multiple pools, tennis facilities and indoor and outdoor gathering spaces. It will be Signia's third property in Florida and strengthens Hilton's presence in the state, where it counts more than 540 hotels.

    Marriott's W Hotels expands to Charlotte, North Carolina

    Marriott International's W Hotels brand is expanding to Charlotte, North Carolina, with a 200-key hotel anchoring the redevelopment of a former office tower. W Charlotte will offer 173 guest rooms and 27 suites, developed by New York City-based Spandrel Development Partners with 7G Group. The hotel spans floors one through nine of the redevelopment and includes a penthouse suite, about 12,000 square feet of meetings space, a ground-floor restaurant and coffee bar, the brand's signature Living Room, and an 18,000-square-foot rooftop food and beverage venue on the 34th floor.

    Tapestry Collection by Hilton Debuts in London with London Bridge Hotel Signing

    Hilton has signed the London Bridge Hotel under its Tapestry Collection brand through a franchise agreement with Gama Holdings, marking the lifestyle brand's debut in London and becoming Hilton's ninth brand in the city. The 153-room hotel, located at 8-18 London Bridge Street, is expected to open in early 2028 after a transformation costing over £12 million. It will offer easy access to landmarks such as The Shard, Borough Market, and Tower Bridge. This signing supports the growth of Tapestry Collection across the UK and Ireland, with the brand expected to reach six hotels by 2028.
