    Vacation Ownership Shifts to Experience Access: HGV Runs 3,800 Events a Year

    In a Skift Global Forum decision brief, ARDA President & CEO Jason Gamel and Hilton Grand Vacations Senior Executive VP & COO Gordon Gurnik discussed how vacation ownership is shifting from lodging toward experience access. Gurnik said HGV runs about 3,800 experience events a year for roughly 725,000 owners, spanning its F1 Las Vegas Clubhouse, private concerts and the LPGA Tournament of Champions.     Amex: Younger Travelers Reshape Premium Travel

    Audrey Hendley, President of American Express Travel, told Skift Global Forum that Millennial and Gen Z spending on American Express rose 40% in Q2 2026 and together they account for 65% of its new customers globally; the average new U.S. Platinum cardholder is 32 and Gold is 29. A survey found 75% of millennials would take a job with fewer benefits for more travel time. Hendley said premium is shifting from a single property standard toward experiences and time value, citing AI-assisted human service and the behavior-driven Sidecar lounge. Skift noted U.S. inbound tourism fell 11% in August 2026 and 7% in July 2026.

    Wyndham CEO: Gen Z Now Makes Up Nearly 10% of Membership Base

    Wyndham Hotels & Resorts President and CEO Geoff Ballotti said at the Skift Global Forum in New York that Gen Z now accounts for nearly 10% of the company's revenue and membership base, up from around 3% three years ago. Combined with millennials, that share has risen from roughly the high 20s to approaching 40%. Ballotti called the demographic's downstream earnings potential important, and said reaching it requires more than a competitive points program, with experiences playing a key role — for example, dozens of packages built around the Harry Styles world tour through a partnership with Madison Square Garden.
